The risk committee was asked to provide a recommendation regarding single handed sailing which was tabled at the club meeting in March 2023. The recommendation is that all competing yachts shall have a minimum of two crew over the age of 18 when participating in PMYC events.
In making this recommendation it was noted that single handed sailing is not impossible however the PMYC does not have sufficient risk mitigation controls in place such as training requirements, specific equipment audit requirements or procedures to support those wishing to sail solo.
The Race Committee will update the Sailing Instructions as required at the next meeting noting that a requirement for a minimum of two crew already exists within the notice of race.
