DISCOVER SAILING DAY: Port Macquarie Sailing Club, Yacht Club and Sailability welcome the community to come and try sailing
Port Macquarie Sailing Club, Port Macquarie Yacht Club and Sailability Port Macquarie are inviting the community to enjoy a free sailing experience at McInherney Park as part of the National Discover Sailing Day program on Saturday 25 November 2023 from 11am to 3pm.
People can attend by themselves, or with a partner, friends or family to get a taste of what sailing is all about.
The aim of Discover Sailing Day is to encourage people to find out how much fun, safe, accessible and affordable sailing can be.
PMSC Club Secretary, Stuart Symons encourages people to pay the club a visit on Saturday 25 November.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to welcome the community to our clubs and our sport” he said.
“We encourage anyone who has ever wanted to try sailing to come and have a look and enjoy a sail with an experienced club member or instructor. We provide all the instructors, boats and safety equipment, so all you have to do is come along prepared for a good time with a hat and some sunscreen.”
Discover Sailing Day offers you the chance to go for a short sail on a yacht or a dinghy with an experienced sailor, enjoy the club’s facilities, grab something to eat at the BBQ, and find out about the great sailing opportunities available.
There are options for young and old, varying abilities, aspiring sailors and experienced sailors.
Alongside the Yacht and Sailing Clubs; Sailability will be offering people with varying abilities freedom on the water, through their fleet of Hansa 303 Access sailing boats and support boats with experienced volunteers. People with a disability can find that sailing is a fun, safe and rewarding activity in which all can participate.
“Our Discover Sailing Host can answer any questions about sailing and our volunteers will ensure you have an enjoyable day,” PMYC Commodore, Jim Bignell said.
“We recommend people book in advance to ensure they can get out on the water, but you can also register on the day.”
